Why Liverpool is a Style Icon

I built this blog to be specifically centred around Liverpool style, fashion and celebrities, why? Because I truly believe Liverpool has more going on than any other city outside of London. Where else do you go to Sainsbury’s only to have David Gest ask what you’re having for dinner (yes, that really did happen and I was having enchiladas, just so you know,) and where else do you get girls coming out of bars looking like movie stars. Seriously – the girls in Liverpool spend as much time getting ready for a night out as Kate Winslet did getting ready for the Oscars. Liverpool also has the hottest bars and celebrities coming in and out of the city daily. All of this and I haven’t even mentioned our WAGs - which is what London-based celebrity magazines really only associate us with.

Living in the city centre a day rarely goes by when I don’t see someone I recognise off the television and bars are opening week by week. Do you know something else- the people of Liverpool truly love Liverpool. They’re all happy to live here and be part of this amazing city. We’ve got it all.

The style is in the buildings, the style is in the footballers and their wives, the style is in the hottest events and brand new bars and restaurants… did I mention we’ve got our own soap and one of our own in the final of Strictly Come Dancing.

So it’s only natural that Liverpool deserves a blog which echoes the style of Perez Hilton and Heat magazine, forget London and LA… Liverpool is where it’s all happening.

Spa Birthday Party @ The Noble House

On Thursday afternoon a friend called me to invite me to the 1st birthday of Rouge et Noir to be hosted by Jude Cisse, wife of ex-Liverpool footballer Djibril Cisse. So with a quick run around the shops after work, I managed to grab an outfit and start getting ready for the bash.

When we got to the Noble House, the paparazzi where already outside so I knew it was going to be a night of potential star spotting. With a glass of champagne in hand, me and my friend found one empty booth right in the corner of the room - coincidently next to all the goodie bags!

Feeling slightly out of place we just carried to chat between us before we noticed a girl come and stand near to our booth and have her photograph taken. That girl was Nathalie Emmanuel aka Sasha from Hollyoaks and not soon after havign her photo taken she came over and started chatting to us. Before we knew it two more people had joined our booth; one was Jude Cisse herself and the othera journalist from the popular Candis magazine. Next I saw Carley Stenson arrive followed shortly by Nikki Sanderson. After a quick round of PR photos we all ended up chatting and migling like we'd known each other for ages. I also got introduced to glamour model - Emma Jo who was recently left by her husband Joe Calzaghe for his partner in Strictly - Kristina Rihanoff.

The hours practically flew past and before I knew it we were out the door - with goodie bags in hand - heading off to Newz Bar. Now if you know Liverpool well, you'll know it's only 2minutes away from the Noble House and yet Carley's friend offered to drive so we all piled into the back of her car and whizzed around.

I have to say Carley Stenson is one of the most lovely people I have ever met, she is a completely normal girl who wears her heart on her sleeve- she kept receiving texts from ex-boyfriend Ricky Whittle all night, who she appears to still love to absolute bits.

After dancing around with glass of wine in hand, my friend realised that Amir Khan was in the VIP booth - I never realised she was that big of a fan but within an instant she had me in the VIP booth trying to track him down... All I remember was this arm being wrapped around me shoulder and this voice saying, 'You looking for me?' I swear I have never seen my friend so starstruck, she jumped on him and later convessed that she buried her head in his pecs. We found this very amusing the next day when we both realised how drunk we'd been! Amir seemed nice enough - shame about hsi girlfriend though, try and imagine an Oompa Lumpa with an attitude problem. Talk about jealous!

The next morning as I walked to work with a banging headache I noticed how all the photo's from the night before had already made it onto the front of the Daily Post. I know find it really bizarre to see what people right, according to one website - Ricky Whittle had been with Carley at the party all night and left with a sad face and his free cake. This was definately not true! We never saw Ricky, we were in the basement bar and he was upstairs with his friends, he only text Carley, nothing else.

So there... All you tell-tale tabloids say what you want because from now on I'll be telling the truth.

A Weekend of the Juice Style Awards and the Clothes Show Live

This weekend has taken me a while to recover which is why I’m only blogging today! First on Friday night, I was so happy to see the end of the working week that me and my colleagues decided to go on a bit of a bar crawl – it was quite accidental really but it gives me the chance to tell you where is so hot to go right now. First, we started in Chameleon on Colquitt Street – Chameleon has a big week coming up actually, it’s their first birthday on Friday and their new website also go lives, check it out and get on the queue jumping list. I never knew but Friday night is now barbeque night in there, so I had ac nice chicken wing with my Mojito cocktail – bizarre but it worked! Next, I was off to Chaya – a bar I have previously loved, loved, loved but to be honest it was surprisingly quiet and I have noticed its popularity slowly deteriorating – plus they don’t take credit card payments?! So annoying!

Next place we headed was Parr Street Studios, now you may have read about this place in the news recently as all the Hollyoaks lot headed there to bid farewell to cast mate, Zoe Lister. It happened to be the place where Ricky Whittle was pictured leaving with his ex-girlfriend Carly Stenson and he was arrested moments later for running down a photographer with his beast of truck. The same thing nearly happened to me the other week when I saw him on Brunswick Street, temper temper Mr Whittle.

The bar itself was gorgeous inside, very low lit and very exclusive as it’s almost hidden off the road. Oh and before we went Parr Street Studios, we went to Heebie Jeebies – the new favourite of Alex Curran and Coleen Rooney, well if it’s good enough for them…

Talking of Alex Curran, I saw her on Saturday night as she attended the Juice Style Awards at the brand new Hilton Hotel. Also in attendance was Emma Rigby, Sheree Murphy, George Sampson and Natasha Hamilton. Zoe Salmon also appeared to have reconciled with her ex-boyfriend Gerrard McCarthy as they spent most of the night staring into each others eyes. Alex looked absolutely amazing in a bright blue top and leather mini-skirt, she stayed perfect looking even after the several glasses of champagne she drank – how annoying! Unfortunately I left in a similar style to Emma Rigby – looking a little worse for wear and hanging around my friend’s neck. Amazing night but boy, was it painful trying to wake up at 9am on Sunday morning!

Why would I do such a thing to myself you wonder? Two words; Clothes Show! I’ve been attending this event since I was about fourteen and I can never resist the cut priced make-up and designer clothes for high street prices, I even found a Fake Bake gift set – which should have been £50, for £20! I love a tan and I love a bargain, perfect. I was also lucky enough to know one of the event organisers so he kindly arranged VIP parking and seats for the catwalk show, which was presented by Gok Wan, Dave Berry and Fearne Cotton.

I’ve always wanted to see Fearne in real life so it was so great to see that she was exactly how I expected- she wasn’t one of these two-foot tall micro celebrities, she was perfect height, perfect weight and looking amazing in one of her very.co.uk designs. She looks like she could easily be your best mate! Gok tried to claim that he got more attention from the male models than she did… but only if male models like that tangoed look, honestly, I’ve never seen such an orange man, he must have been caked in foundation – amazing clothes though!

Also spotted Gemma Merna and Andy Moss, she was tiny and looked much prettier in real life, he was exactly like his character – a bit of knob really! Also saw Jeff Brazier or should I say I heard him before I saw him! Gorgeous Essex boy and I can’t believe how hard this year must have been for him with his sons. He looked happy though and was extremely friendly with people who asked for a photograph.

So there we have my exceedingly busy week and just to leave you with a cherry on top of the Sundae, no pun intended… Rumour has it Emma Rigby and Taio Cruz are now together after she was seen taking him back to her hotel room in Manchester, what a hot couple!

Habitat Launch Night

Last night I took a visit to Liverpool ONE for the opening of the new Habitat store. With a glass of champagne in one hand and my bag in the other, I set about my multi-taking mission to see everything in the store. To be honest, the store is absolutely gorgeous and I wanted to buy everything in there however the price tags weren't quite as friendly - so good job there's 20% off at the moment until the end of the month, so get yourself down there. The food was absolutely amazing and in the end I did find myself 'accidently' following the waiter for the next culinary offering.

Got to say though, Ubiquity PR did a great job with the event and Joel and his team impressed yet again so big well done to them.

After browsing for an hour I went over to Barburrito for a fast-feed before I went to see New Moon for the second time, yes I am slightly obsessed with the vampire/werewolf scenario and for those of you who care.. I'm Team Edward all the way!

Although I don't intend for this blog to be celeb sighting focused, I did happen to bump into Amy Barnes () from Hollyoaks last night, she was all wrapped up in ear-muffs, hat, scarf... the works. I did hear though that the reason she was missing off Hollyoaks for most of the year was due to a battle with anorexia, so I wish her all the best and she looks like she's doing well so keep it up.

Note to all potential models: A big London modelling agency will be scouting new faces in Newz Bar next Thursday, entrance is free so go along and get yourself noticed!

Cricket Christmas Party at The Noble House, Liverpool

Last night Cricket hosted an exclusive Christmas party at The Noble House, which doesn't actually open until tomorrow! I suppose all Justine Mills had to do was ring the owner, mention the names Coleen Rooney and Alex Gerrard and voila! I mean the owner would have been stupid not to, the PR from the night is invaluable - now who needs to fork out on a expensive opening!

As I live very near to The Noble House, I happened to be passing as I saw the swarms of paparazzi zoom in to get a shot of Alex Curran. Followed shortly by Robbie Keanes wife, Claudine, who... cringe... was wearing the same jacket as Alex! I thought people shopped at designer boutiques to avoid this kind of 'Topshop' situation. Luckily the jacket was absolutely gorgeous and massively on trend with shoulder pads to rival those that Lady Gaga wore last week - you know the ones that made her look like a hunchback!

It's all out war now between The Noble House and The Restaurant Bar & Grill; the two most exclusive bars in Liverpool literally going heat-to-head. I'm going to The Noble House opening tomorrow night so I'll let you know what I think.

As this is my first post I should probably let you know what inspired me to start this blog ... As I live in the city centre I literally bump into Liverpool 'celebs' left, right and centre. The other day I was innocently walking home from work and Ricky Whittle, Hollyoaks and Strictly favourite, literally ran into me in the street, then I saw The Fonz and Gail Porter the week before that! If you live in the Liverpool bubble like I do, the you'll want ot know who's passing in and out... so I'll tell you.

Going Habitat launch tonight... obviously as research for my next blog and not for the free champagne...
